According to H2 Gambling Capital, global gambling revenues are now on track to fall by 11% due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Depending on the global spread of the virus, the final revenue losses may be even higher. The expected decline in revenues would effectively bring the value of the global gambling market to below 2017 levels.
As the land-based industry will be hit much harder than the online sector, the relative share of the latter in total revenues is expected to increase from 13.2% to an estimated 16%.

Online operators take action against 'corona-free' affiliate marketing
Flutter Entertainment and Kindred Group have communicated a zero-tolerance policy with affiliate partners over the use of coronavirus in marketing material. LeoVegas has reportedly taken similar steps.
Meanwhile, Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) is offering free coronavirus keyword tracking to operators seeking to prevent unethical marketing practices through their affiliate marketing channels.
Last week, the Netherlands Gambling Authority warned unlicensed online operators using the coronavirus crisis to promote their online offerings that they could count on the 'keen attention' of the regulator.
Marketing efforts touting the advantages of 'corona-free' gambling have, however, also been observed in other markets, including the UK.

Netherlands Gambling Authority publishes annual report and enforcement agenda
The Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) has published its annual report, as well as its enforcement agenda for the coming year.
Despite the fact that the Dutch regulator issued a record amount of fines in 2019, totaling €3.5m, KSA chairman René Jansen said that fines alone would not be enough to stop unlicensed operators.
Jansen: 'The ban on online gambling can hardly be enforced any longer, as there are already an estimated one million Dutch players gambling online. Consumer demand is there and will not disappear.'
The Netherlands Gambling Authority also published its enforcement agenda 2020. In the coming year, the regulator will focus on preventing minors from participating in games of chance, take measures to prevent gambling addiction, and curbing (the visibility of) illegal gambling offerings.

Reforms of 2011[edit]
In March 2011, the Dutch coalition government announced a new gambling framework which in 2015 will open the country's online gambling market (including casinos, lotteries, poker, sportsbooks and bingo) to licensed domestic and foreign gaming establishments.[1]
